With the caveat that I haven't read every single one, every single year, some of the older fandoms seem to get consistently good fics. Off the top of my head: Casablanca, Aliens, and Some Like it Hot.

I know I'm late to the party but I'm baffled by all of this person's choices. Sure, why not turn a bunch of significant phrases pink? Why is one also in bold? You're reccing a single 300-page book, which you say is "very complicated" and you're asking for the main characters, but you've ALSO provided a color-coded guide of which chapters are the minimum necessary?

Hard to say. It's always something that comes out of nowhere, like a clear DNW violation or someone writing something that makes you go, wtf.

If I had to guess a fandom, I feel Murderbot is a good contender, though, because so many of those sign-ups are already simmering with potential. You've got blank ones/placeholders, ones that have DNW lists that feel like that fandom's greatest hits of wank, at least two sign-ups that put the majority of their DNWs in their letters, and the very real possibility that more than a few recipients are hoping to get book canon rather than the show. And if someone writes any kind of smut...

There's a website for writers and moviemakers where they often offer the chance for your pitch to be read by someone who develops movies for major studios. I sent in a pitch and the exec wants a meeting! Oh God, I hope I don't screw up the meeting. This is such a big dream of mine and I had to share!

The prompts my recipient left for me were uninspiring and lend themselves to short fic. I'm 900 words in and I'll reach the end somewhere around 1400, and the story is going to be pretty bland because that's what they asked for.

I found a much meatier prompt that I would love to write, but it will be much longer and also it will probably be obvious I enjoyed writing it more. Will anyone be able to tell that it's a treat?

Confess your yuletide crimes, coalies. Have you done any of the following, and if so, what happened? Did you get caught? Why'd you do it?

- Uploaded a placeholder story (actual placeholder, not just a finished story that still needs editing).
- Deliberately ignored DNWs.
- Catered a story speficially to go against prompts/wants.
- Wrote an ODAO story out of laziness (as in, you had zero excuses).

...or anything else along the same lines? CONFESS.

I wrote a fic that went against my recip's prompts.

But to me defence, their prompt was "please write something about [unnominated character I hate]'s [storyline]". I asked for prompts for the characters I offered, didn't get a response, and wrote the post-canon shipfic of my heart.

I was excited to see Internet Story because I loved that video when I was younger, and I figured I might want to write a treat, but all the recip's fandoms are blank except for a letter link and the letter is a Google doc you need to request permission to access, automatically outing yourself. What's the point of this
