(Anonymous) 2025-11-10 03:07 am (UTC)(link)I mean, we're getting into semantics here; I will argue that someone who puts a DNW of "gen" or "anything other than my ship becoming vampires and riding robot unicorns together" is obviously creating an "unreasonable" situation of railroading that the mods would not enforce, just as someone who puts down "AUs" or "smut" in their DNWs is still giving plenty of latitude for their author. I think the key here is that Yuletide does explicitly encourage authors to contact the mods if they have issues with their recipient's DNWs for clarification. They'd like it to be worked out amicably, because it is possible for people to accidentally include a DNW that goes against canon if they copy paste them from past sign-ups or write their DNW in a way that makes it seem far more restrictive than it actually is. I think the baseline should be assuming good faith of a participant unless demonstrably proven otherwise as in the case of Aurae.
