Back on yuletide treasure, prompts didn't go public until like Christmas Day, and "stocking stuffers" were all clearly marked (which is why it was trivially easy to put them all in a different collection after the AO3 move.) The idea of "treats" that were indistinguishable from regular stories didn't show up until later.

I don't actually think most pro-madness people would complain if there was only one collection but all treats were required to be indelibly tagged as treats. Somehow I think most of the anti-madness people would hate it even more.

Prompts went public much sooner than that and there was no way to mark "stocking stuffers." Some people were writing 20+ treats and they weren't all written on Christmas Day. There was a Google doc posted here a year or two ago linking to the entire list of Yuletide stories from the old archive: title, word count, summary, author name, recipient name, which year, rating, and fandom name. Nothing about treat vs not treat.

That's wrong though.

What part are you objecting to? There was no tagging on the old site. The only way you'd know a treat was a treat was if the author's note said so.
