One time I wrote a crack fic treat for someone without noticing they didn't like crack fic until I'd already written the thing. And I was like, fuck it, I will post this anyway, what is the worst that can happen? The treat can end up their only fic, that's the worst that can happen. /o\

This sort of happened to me. It wasn't crack but it was a very fringe part of their overall request that just happened to strike me, and the story was nothing I'd have written if I'd been assigned it. It ended up their only gift.

And that is why I now hold off on posting treats until the recipient has a gift unless I'm sure it could stand as the gift.
