Yes, not disputing that, I'm commenting on the fact that my friend who made a mistake and was honest about it did not get a reprieve, while the friend of the Coalie I was replying to was rewarded for dishonesty.

I mean if your friend called it "punishment" when they were asked to write a story to participate again, which was a clear if somewhat inflexible result of a situation they were responsible for (uploading something that wasn't a full gift), then I am guessing they were similarly indignant when replying to the mods, and someone lying to your face but at least admitting that there was a problem might leave a better impression than that.

I mean, yeah, being able to lie convincingly often gets you out of situations where admitting the truth will get you in trouble. That's not really surprising or unusual?
