On second thought, I think I might be fine with relationship matching as long as mods don’t limit the amount we can request to 3. What’s the maximum amount of relationship tags that people can request in an exchange? 10? 20? 50?

If people can request A & B, A & C, A & X, A & Y, A & Z, B & X, C & Y, X & Z, A & E & F & G & M B/C, X/Y, E/F & G, M/Z & Y etc for a fandom then do we really need character matching anymore?

I would go to mods.

It's possible all they want is explicit acknowledgement in the story that the consent is dubious and the author is aware consent is a thing? But I'd check, that's a tricky one.

At what point in writing a treat that's coming out nothing-special would you decide to just not finish it? Or is it always worth finishing up a treat?

Does it make a difference if:
- the fandom is not super rare
- you're already X% done
- you do/don't know if the author will love it
- you're enjoying/not enjoying writing it

The first 500 words or so is usually when I figure out if it's got legs or not. Either I have a good idea where it's going at that point, or it's just not going anywhere, at which point I stop.

Fandom and recip don't matter at that point. Those are what get me to start the treat, not to finish it.

I have no idea what any of the main Yuletide mods are into.

I know some of the tag mods but none of them have written anything I would be into (some of them have actually written for me and the gifts are some of the ones I like least), although I've written for them before and they seemed to like it.

Who has the details on untherius being homophobic?

It's based on his letters. In his 2015 Yuletide letter, he said: "Noncon, underage, betrayal, and slash all make me twitch spasmodically. I'll make limited exception to slash if the characters canonically swing that way. And if you DO write something slashy, please exclude explicit scenes" [https://earcmacfithil.livejournal.com/30379.html]. In his 2016 letter, he said: "There's really not a lot that turns me off. There was a lot of discussion on _coal and F_FA about if (a) DNWing slash was itself homophobic, (b) the problem was with how Untherius phrased the DNWs, or (c) Untherius did nothing wrong at all [see https://yuletide-coal.dreamwidth.org/8618.html?thread=33179306#cmt33179306, https://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/282194.html?thread=1594820690#cmt1594820690]. (For the record, I'm in camp (b): A neutrally-phrased DNW isn't evidence of antipathy, but "make[s] me twitch spasmodically" sure sounds like it.)

There might be more incidents/discussions I don't know about; this is what I found by searching for "untherius homophobic" (and "untherius homophobe", "untherius homophobia") on dememe.info and the yuletide_coal and coaltide DW comms.

I guess I take my cues from both canon and tone of the letter. I tend to default to closed doors when in doubt, but if there's open door sex in canon, I would say that it's then opt out.

Wouldn't admit this un-anon, but: swaps. Honestly, participating in swaps was about 60% of the reason I signed up for Yuletide this year (the timing is otherwise super inconvenient).

IMO if there was a wank about fic titles. There's just been a wanksplosion in one of my fandoms because some NNF titled their story something too similar to that of one written by a BNF. Silly, if you ask me.
