Writing an AU (think coffeeshop/tattoo parlor/office etc) where there’s no real plot or huge events except for the two (requested!) ships getting together. Except all the scenes are the characters focused on/thinking about/interacting with each other. I feel like I should add in other mundane things to vary up the scenes a little but I don’t know if this will make it too long? Is a getting together fic where the characters only focus on getting together too boring? (Recip listed getting together as one of their likes)

I think it's fine as is, but I do think having some kind of conflict would be good. It doesn't have to be external (evil developer tries to take over their building! Ex-partner comes back into town!) But it can be. It could also be internal (he doesn't feel worthy! She's been hurt in the past!). It could be both. Either facilitate character growth (though overcoming internal conflict is better for that).

tl;dr: I don't think you need a plot if you don't want it, but some kind of conflict would help.

I think them just getting together is fine but personally I love when workplace aus have at least a small plot relating to the workplace itself. Could be anything - maybe two of them are picked to do some special training and have to carpool together, maybe everyone has to work an overnight shift to do inventory and shenanigans happen. Just something that adds a little specificity to the setting so it's not just an excuse for a place for them all to hang out.
