I think it's fine as is, but I do think having some kind of conflict would be good. It doesn't have to be external (evil developer tries to take over their building! Ex-partner comes back into town!) But it can be. It could also be internal (he doesn't feel worthy! She's been hurt in the past!). It could be both. Either facilitate character growth (though overcoming internal conflict is better for that).

tl;dr: I don't think you need a plot if you don't want it, but some kind of conflict would help.
