Unexpected Canon Problems

Anyone suddenly run into unexpected problems with their assigned canon?

Matched with my recip on one canon, but got curious about a different prompt they had for another canon I hadn't heard of before. Ended up consuming the entirety of that other canon in an evening, and started working on a fic in a fit of inspiration. Only to learn that a sequel to the canon is being released in the next few weeks!

Now I:
a) have to slow my writing-roll when I'm feeling inspired, boo, hiss

b) need to consider whether to incorporate the sequel in my fic or not in the first place!

(Problem would be alleviated if I just wrote for our originally-matched canon, but their prompt for it is just not very interesting or inspiring.)

Anyone else dealing with silly problems like this?

Continue what you started writing! Consume the sequel when it comes out and see if you like what it adds, and if you do just alter those parts of your fic!
