Continue what you started writing! Consume the sequel when it comes out and see if you like what it adds, and if you do just alter those parts of your fic!

I have another instalment coming out for a canon I requested (related works in a series rather than a direct sequel) and at this point, I don't even know if it'll do anything I like. Absolutely nothing from it has to be included.
