Nobody is claiming that all lesbians agree. That would be ridiculous. Your sexuality does not fit you into one political box in which all people share the same political views.

The point is that the term is used specifically against lesbians. I would disagree with AYRT in that I consider it primarily a sexist slur rather than a homophobic one. At most it might be called lesbophobic, though I'm not a fan of breaking down -phobia oppressions into subsections.

People are beginning to associate terfs with lesbians because of people like the anon I replied to insisting that terfdom is a lesbian issue when it is very much not.

TERF is not a slur, TERF is a description of a very specific hate group that has honestly been given a far kinder name than they deserve.

Saying you're only attracted to women gets you called a TERF. Joking about how at least you can't get pregnant gets you called a TERF. Talking about your period gets you called a TERF. Discussion of the surgical procedure and resulting differences from a female vigina of a neovagina gets you called a TERF. Talking about the need for sex-disaggregated data taking into account differences between sexes for medical and safety purposes gets you called a TERF.

Denying the rights of some women and trying to block them from women's spaces makes you a TERF. Allying yourself with Fundamentalist religious hate groups because you share the same transphobia while trying to claim you are doing it for ~feminist reasons~ makes you a TERF.

Being willing to throw any number of women under the bus in the name of sticking it to trans women makes you a TERF.

For any of those things you claimed, context fucking matters.

Hahahahaha, no, people are "beginning to associate terfs with lesbians" because they think that it's transphobic not to want to sleep with someone who has a penis. Lesbians did not bring this homophobia on ourselves.

Yes, it is frequently used for persons who make no pretension to feminism, including cis, straight, and nonfeminist men (e.g. Putin). Still not a slur.
