How odd. I wonder if they posted it somewhere for crit/concrit because those comments are harsh if they were unsolicited (and iirc, D_J had been talking in the discord about wanting a concrit exchange or something along those lines)

I’ve recently had to reconsider whether my current fic should be a treat, given its unexpectedly dark themes and violent direction. Upon reading over what I currently have of my first draft, I’m starting to wonder if I’ve unconsciously been writing a hate fic the entire time. Personally, my reservation about automated art comes from the instant gratification of “making” it
I’m not gonna go full “the Industrial Revolution and it’s consequences were a disaster upon mankind” here but it’s kind of scary thinking about how much less satisfying being creative will be in the future

Has anyone ever kept around a mean comment directed towards them because it turned out to be absolutely hilarious for one reason or another?

This then started a whole convo about said insulting comments, and even without context it read like a thin excuse for them to share the one they got by making it relevant

This one comment I got a while ago was quite venomous. It insulted my writing, said I was much worse at characterizing than canon, and even accused me of having a mental illness. Incidentally, the commenter actually made a lucky guess. Strangely enough though, instead of feeling sad or angry, I felt kind of refreshed.
But the best part was at the end. Can I quote it behind spoilers?

Ah, well. Here it is (and for context I am NOT insulting anyone here, I am merely quoting an insult directed at ME): "This story not being finished is honestly no great loss. Here's to hoping the rest of this hack author's textual dysentery never sees the light of day."
Because of those two sentences, I'm definitely gonna finish that story now, even if it's the last thing I do.

That's true. I just find Karios a bit... awkward in general. So there's that.

And because someone else might take the bait and reply in good faith, a public warning tells everyone else not to engage the wanker, which a private message to the wanker wouldn't accomplish.
