Has anyone ever kept around a mean comment directed towards them because it turned out to be absolutely hilarious for one reason or another?

This then started a whole convo about said insulting comments, and even without context it read like a thin excuse for them to share the one they got by making it relevant

This one comment I got a while ago was quite venomous. It insulted my writing, said I was much worse at characterizing than canon, and even accused me of having a mental illness. Incidentally, the commenter actually made a lucky guess. Strangely enough though, instead of feeling sad or angry, I felt kind of refreshed.
But the best part was at the end. Can I quote it behind spoilers?

I promise that the line I'm alluding to doesn't have any slurs or even profanity in it.
Ah, well. Here it is (and for context I am NOT insulting anyone here, I am merely quoting an insult directed at ME): "This story not being finished is honestly no great loss. Here's to hoping the rest of this hack author's textual dysentery never sees the light of day."
Because of those two sentences, I'm definitely gonna finish that story now, even if it's the last thing I do.

They're definitely desperate for attention either way, which is the actual problem. If we could focus on that rather than armchair diagnosing them, that would be cool.

They have repeatedly demonstrated their completely abysmal grasp of social interaction to the point where the mods repeatedly threatened to act on it, which I have literally never seen them do before, for one.

Also, they sent themselves anon hate about being autistic.

The vaguing and bringing up inflammatory topics on discord doesn’t seem to come from a lack of social understanding. It seems very deliberate to get a reaction.

They might be autistic as well, but they’re mostly troll.

It's interesting to note that these anon hates came after D_J was told in discord that one way to get roasted on fic was to turn on anon commenting, despite this fic being four months old by then.

The craziest part is knowing the rest of the timeline collected here. When they brought up hateful comments in the discord (12/18/22), they said it was one they'd gotten "a while ago", but seeing the actual comment itself now, it was posted literally a week before they brought it up (12/10/22). This was the day after the (presumably) first time they'd been told to knock it off and get a beta by Rosencrantz (12/9/22).

The cause and effect of **negative mod attention > negative fic attention > waiting a week to cover tracks > bringing up negative fic attention** is so obvious.

I'm 100% convinced someone mentioned hateful comments in discord like two weeks before this and it was all a setup for D_J to bring it back up and join the "cool kids club" who'd gotten flamed

Yikes that is a giant wall of text comment. Like if you hate it, leaving a short "this sux; you sux" type comment makes sense. But who hates a fic so much that they need to write a comment that long and detailed? That's a super red flag for it either being the author themselves or some kind of BEC scenario

is it, like... a story about the characters treating each other badly and breaking up? Or a failed proposal? Or characters discussing how they'd never get together...? Or something else that deals with the romantic or sexual relationship in the fic and has a negative outcome? I'm struggling a little with how the rationalisations/evidence fit into the context
