I really want to know what people expect when they request a ship with a manipulative, lying villain like Ursula/Ariel and then DNW gaslighting.

Manipulation and unhealthy dynamics that don't involve forcing someone to question their reality? Blackmail, questionable moral arguments (that the villain believes in, rather than just something they're just saying to corrode the other person's sanity), dragging them into doing bad things, deals with the devil, "I know this is wrong but I have to for [reason]", falling in love despite knowing exactly what the other person is, in too deep, ect.

I've got that same DNW and regularly get darkfic, so it doesn't seem to put everyone off. Granted, I also prompt what I do want.

A fic with gaslighting would mean a long-ish fic, and a particular typ eof thriller or an angstfest. That's a very specific trope, and you can write a lot more.

We had two rounds of Multifandom Drabble Exchange this last year; it may be that people didn't feel quite as much need to drabble within Yuletide as a result.

Maybe? I'd written a few drabble treats in the past, but hearing people's outraged response to them on coal for the past two years I decided not to risk it unless someone specifically requested or invited ficlet treats, and I didn't see any in the letters I read through.

I think that the challenge was a lot more active back when requests only became visible near the end of the yuletide period and people saw things that inspired them with just a little bit of time. Now, since the requests are out so much earlier (and a lot of people do letters), it seems to have died down.

He says in comment replies to the Ikea fic that he wrote it while procrastinating on his main assignment. While we've all been there, I think in this case he should have worked more on his main assignment, because I'm not sure the plot actually finishes.

Ugh, that Eagle fic was so awful. And why a homophobe like him would even offer the fandom in the first place is beyond me. But then again I guess not, since it's not as if he's ever cared about his recips.
