Since we're posting details, I do think it's important to know that while I do not agree with EO on calling them an outright liar, the context of this was the recip claiming two seemingly contradictory reasons for why they wanted the EPH.

First reason: The fic is a rewording of their letter and prompts
Second reason (after the first was rejected): The fic is character bashing

Well, this puts a slightly different light on things. Not in a way that makes it better on the side of the mod and EO, though. It's just that ESH.

Getting a disappointing gift can be upsetting and, while not the classiest thing in the world, it's pretty understandable why someone might contradict themselves in trying to explain why they think it's EPH levels of a disappointing gift.

It still doesn't compare to the RS mod putting them on blast, or EO's shit.

SC

(Insofar as "This gift is a rehash of my request" and "this gift is character-bashing" is even contradictory, which I don't think it actually is, and calling them a liar based on that is a buck-wild reach.)

+1 It's wild of EO to make that accusation when he himself then goes on to whine about how he shouldn't be scrutinized for picking the wrong words. Did he even consider that it's nerve wracking to ask for an EPH and maybe he should extend the grace of not overanalyzing every word?

I don't know how you get that reading.

"This work rehashed my prompt!" is an extremely weird thing to complain about, but when someone gets a gift they hate, they don't always express themselves very well and it's the mod's job to deal with the problem politely.

My vote is NAH, except for EO, where my vote is Y(he's)TA.

How did the RS mod know it wasn't a rehash of the recipient's prompt/letter if the gift was too squicky for them to read in the first place? Like, did they ask the server for the rehash check, rejected, then asked the server again for the bash DNW, and rejected again?

SC I will spiritually send whoever pastes the log 5 dollars, or the equivalent in their local currency. I am willing to negotiate.

How did the RS mod know it wasn't a rehash of the recipient's prompt/letter if the gift was too squicky for them to read in the first place?

Because they asked for a couple of volunteers on the mod server to read it for them and help them make a judgment call, which is what OP of this entire thread is complaining about.

My question is if they rejected it by themselves the first time and then asked the server for the second rejection, or if they asked the server for both rejections.

They asked the server both times, even though they'd already decided no EPH. That's why it felt so cruel: the mod had already made up their mind, yet they were inviting additional scrutiny that wasn't constructive.

Wow you're STILL caping for them???

The recip's own response is posted here in this very thread. They only mentioned character bashing while accepting the mod's decision, saying that aspect combined with the first made them wary, but thank you for looking into this. It was supporting information for why they asked in the first place. You are being extremely ungenerous.

First reason: The fic is a rewording of their letter and prompts
Second reason (after the first was rejected): The fic is character bashing

(If this is the fic I'm thinking it is) I don't think these are contradictory at all, in a YMMV way. If the recip sees it as very close to the prompt, but with unrequested homophobia and homophobic slurs as character bashing, that aligns with those given reasons.

Or we can say fuck nuance and the recip is throwing spaghetti at the wall, I guess!

Re: Mod Cabal

Okay, if it's the one I'm thinking it is:
- The fic contains parts that appear to be copy-pasted from recip's prompts moving around a word here and there, the kind of thing that would count as plagiarism in a college essay. It's a small portion of the fic, but it's noticeable.
- One character is hardly recognizable and Evil in a way that just looks like bad writing to me, but I can see why it read as character bashing to the recip, especially after looking at their prompts.

A minimum of 18 mods were in the server when this was being "discussed" and nobody bothered to take a look?

People in this hobby hate reading.
