Seriously like do you not know how many fandoms are outright about actual awful people or are just about awful people with the serials filed off/“their brother”? Most fandoms don’t even bother to try to defang them, they’re straight up muderders (Hannibal) and that is what the fandom likes?????

Hannibal is fictional. That's dramatically different than someone wanting fic about The BTK killer's brother or John Wayne Gacy's nephew twice removed.

Most fictional serial killers are, and the fiction characters are so far removed from the inspiration that trying to act like it's the same guy is unreasonable.

Hannibal fic or Psycho fic or X fic is one thing, Ed Gein or Ed Gein's brother fic is entirely another.

Technically, he's based on a doctor who chopped up his lover. He didn't eat him, or make fancy ass meals with him, but his mannerisms and such inspired the character. So Hannibal as written is fictional. If the show were Alfredo Ballí Treviño or Alfredo Ballí Treviño's brother, then we can compare it to the current wanky Desert Peach stuff (that my god I'm so sick of hearing about).

Your mom’s biggest and only fandom is likely to be people exploiting actual harm to have fun/see the fun in it, aka what you get when make a fake brother that is was less problematic than the real criminal.

I haaaaaate true crime but again, I don’t think that stance is activism and will not waste my free time crusading against its stans. It’s the same with antis. If you spend as much/more time policing the shit you hate as you do with the things you like, then you’re essentially in the fandom/shipping that ship as much as the people that like it. It is in your head and taking your energy from engaging/creating content for good shit. If your idea is fun is being negatiive in that way then....okay. But that will be a big pass from me.

That and I'm at least provisionally prepared to believe that Charité at War actually is a nuanced look at the lives of ordinary Germans under Nazism, instead of whatever fetishy borderline apologetics shit is going on with Desert Peach. It may be less intrinsically hate-worthy.

I don't know; I haven't seen it. But it seems unlikely to me that German prestige television would produce something that dodgy on this topic.

the gotcha is that this and similar fandoms have been recced a lot too and your eyes seem to have glazed over them. clearly you are capable of doing it for dp too. the issue is that they end up on the ph lists a lot which you apparently stalk? that is the only difference between her dp pimping and c@w/similar’s pimping which bothers you not at all.
