JKR defends Nazis. (She always finds a way to walk it back after, but she keeps doing it again.) If your need to "protect women's spaces" requires letting Nazis into them, you've gone very, very, very wrong.

Are you trying to defend her by saying that she defends Nazis and sometimes doesn't bother to walk it back? I'll grant you that, it's possible there are times she has defended Nazis and not walked it back, I don't track her that closely. The half a dozen or so times I have witnessed her defending Nazis, she has at least attempted to claim it wasn't really defending Nazis when called on it, but you're right, maybe there have been times she was completely shameless about it and I never heard anything, I was being charitable when I said "always".

I mean, I don't actually give enough of a fuck about JKR to write a research paper for you, coalie. There's the time she defended Kellie-Jay Keen Minshull (I love that you're into her enough to have an acronym for her, as opposed to having to google her to know who the fuck she is, like I did.) There's the time she claimed Nazis didn't really persecute trans people. There's the other times she's liked tweets by people in the U.K. anti-trans movement who are known to be cozy with white supremacists. There's the abusing the U.K.'s libel laws to stop people from talking about those things. Those are just the ones that came up on a quick google!

Like I said, she's attempted to walk it back every time, so I'm sure you can come up with the reasons she gave why that wasn't what she was doing, I don't need you to rehash her excuses, but you'd think one time of having to deny you were actively supporting Nazis would be enough for most people.

I enjoyed being in the harry potter fandom and I still think of it fondly but also jkr being a bigot ruined it for me. that's what bigots do. they ruin things for other people. they never make anything better for anyone, not even themselves. it's a shame, it really is.

Well, they didn't. Trans people were not really a recognised group. The Nazis persecuted homosexuals as asocial persons. There've been a couple reports of male Germans who were arrested and who might be described as trans today, perhaps, although they weren't arrested as such and it wasn't the cross-sex identity that made them victims. Non-Germans, even if gay or trans, were persecuted as other groups: if you were gay and Jewish, you were persecuted as a Jew.

Even this wikipedia page, by means of its constant references to gay people, undermines your point. The victims were persecuted under Paragraph 175, which targeted homosexuals.

It's also extremely badly written. For the claim "Many transgender people were imprisoned and murdered in Nazi concentration camps, though it is unknown exactly how many were killed or died as a result of their mistreatment." we have this quote from the source (France24) "Historians say between 3,000 and 10,000 gay men and an unknown number of lesbians and transgender people were killed or died of mistreatment.' You cannot claim "many transgender people were murdered" and source this with a claim that "an unknown number" were murdered.

A postal worker known as Gerd W., who was a transgender man, petitioned in 1940 to have his transvestite pass restored after being unhappy attempting to live as a woman. Although his transvestite pass was not restored, he was given permission to dress as a man so long as he did not have sexual relations with women.[90] Another transgender man, Gerd Kubbe, had his transvestite pass revoked in 1933. He was arrested in January 1938 for crossdressing into "protective custody" on the orders of Reinhard Heydrich and imprisoned at the Lichtenburg concentration camp.[91][7] However, in October 1938, he too was released, his transvestite pass restored, and he was even granted special permission from the Gestapo to continue wearing men's clothes and using a masculine name; though he was barred from using public restrooms or baths while wearing men's clothing.[91][18] Can you imagine equivalent releases for Jews?

Nobody was immune to Nazi persecution. Some people, however, were far more targeted than others.

I am kind of on your side on this point because there are very few still living members of Hitler's Nazi Party and they are generally old fucks who will also be dead soon, but also we have been calling people who are not strictly speaking Nazis but nevertheless are essentially Nazis Nazis since basically the war ended and this is pretty much a lost argument at this point. Can you be an authoritarian fascist without being an actual Nazi? Yes, of course. Can you be one without people calling you a Nazi? Nope! Sorry to you Nazis but not really because if you didn't want to be called Nazis, you could just not be so Nazi-like.
