"Do what you will" is the whole of the law but coaltide is a clear example of why "provided it harms nobody" had to be explicitly added for the people in the back.
Well, if you can find a better place to do it, feel free to gather some and bring it back here. We now have more than 0 data, which is what we were arguing on to start with.
Another analysis technique: using the spreadsheet, it shouldn't be too difficult to make a list of all participants with completely blank details this year. There might be interesting trends in terms of what fandoms are requested, how many of them are completely new participants, or how many of them signed up in the last few hours.
They just don't notice because it's not about dick in vagina, but the fucked up power play stories and religious slobbery I've received are as weird as any Omegaverse fic. Only without the basic self awareness to realise 'hum this is a Lil Fucked Up' actually.
I realize antis have their own weird kinks but I'm still not seeing what the connection is between "people keep giving me weird kinks" and "antis exist".
Faulty categorisation of everyone who objects to violent kink as being religious and wanting the same hierarchical dynamics that they're objecting to. Misleading and disingenuous.
I have received fic from antis for like a decade straight now. I don't know why I bother with Yuletide at all honestly.
I don't like reading what reads to *them* as sane, wholesome fic; because their sexual fantasies are extremely fucked up in ways they refuse to acknowledge.
Sorry, coalie, I'm kind of struggling here, because getting weird "fucked up power play stories and religious slobbery" stories, that you didn't ask for, for a decade straight sounds
a) unpleasant! I'm sorry that happened to you
b) weird as hell. Like, something is going on here, and that something COULD be the worst luck known to coal. I want to stress that even though my brain strays to "is there something about the fandoms?? Are you accidentally including a secret code in your prompts???" I don't think this has got to be your fault
It's just - antis? I'm not even sure we're using the same definition of antis, but this seems like a really broad generalization for a bizarre circumstance.
It's weird enough that you're getting any straight pattern of awful gifts for a decade straight. Most of us getting bad gifts are just getting A Story In Which Nothing Happens.
If I have done this right, this should be every person who has signed up who has entered no prompt for any of their requested fandoms nor provided a link to a letter. It doesn't include a number of people who put a prompt in for some fandoms and not others, nor have I checked whether people who put no prompts but had a letter link actually had content in their letter, they just got left out. There are likely therefore to be people not in this list who are functionally blank signups will not being strictly blank signups. I don't know how to tell when they signed up.

I think what I recognize in that vent is that there are, in fact, a lot of people in fandom who have headcanons/kinks that are pretty dark, really (often things that, when you think about it, are clearly non-con/abusive/manipulation and so forth) but who see them as wholesome and romantic. These people are not necessarily all antis, but there's overlap because they are typically the ones who struggle the most with admitting that they, too, have fucked-up fantasies.
But there are "proshippers" who do this too - there's this one guy I used to share a fandom with who is definitely not an anti but who kept swearing up and down that the one thing he wouldn't ever write or read is intergenerational incest because it was his hard DNW ... which I took at face value until I went to his AO3 and realized he'd written more than half of the stories for an adoptive parent/child ship. Like, I mean, good for him, and the fic wasn't half-bad, but the mental disconnect was so puzzling to me.
"Non-biological incest isn't actually incest" is a reasonably common opinion, even though I can't really see the difference when it comes to one character having raised the other from childhood.
Huh. As someone in a similar boat as him, what squicks me about incest is the biological relation. If it's an adopted relationship, it just doesn't hit the squick.
