I'm finally free of assignments and could theoretically pinch hit something, but I don't know any of those fandoms at all and from a brief google none of them are rtmi.
SA and while I'd consider jumping on the sword for one of the shorter canons for a 1k PH, it's not gonna happen for 3.5k of something I have to pick up from scratch.
This made me remember that I've picked up a partial FFFX PH that I should get to... :') as a non-participant no less
why do I do this to myself
(the answer is that I'm in such small fandoms that just the novelty of writing about someone guaranteed to care about the result is addicting, if it does mean I'm currently writing a whooping eight times the number of gifts that I'm receiving myself...)
3.5k, but the number of participants is not helpful either. A smaller number means fewer people invested in it opening in time, talking about it, able to promote it to their friends.
And a high number of defaulters overall. From the profile list:
Of that 45, I'd give 6 a 50% or higher chance of defaulting. SuzieAnna and SweetSorcery will have written for each other. Obsessive_Reader7 may have turned in a gift, but odds are the mod double-assigned them. There are at least 9 more people on that list where I'd be really surprised if they'd taken a pinch hit, and there aren't many who consistently take pinch hits - flipflop_diva is actually one of the likeliest here to have the capacity to take on an extra assignment.
And they started with 11 PHs, which is high though not extraordinary for a freeform exchange. Some of the people who can do pinch hits may have already picked up the pinch hits they could do in the beginning and just don't have fandom spread for the rest.
There are absolutely fandoms I could write, but my problem is I can't write short anything; if I take a pinch hit it's going to be long and time-consuming. (Yes. I'm aware that to most of the fic world 3.5k is long. I'll write shorter than that as chapters in longer works or as series installments, but for standalones I... don't do that.)
