Why do you think it's ok to write fic about rapists? What meaningful difference is there between writing porn about rapists who happen to be hot celebs and writing Richard Ramirez/James Joseph DeAngelo fluffy coffee shop AUs?

I fully respect that! However, I can also think of celebrities where knowing someone wrote fic about them, even if it was totally unconnected to the RL version of that celebrity, would make me not want to interact with them. And I think that is fine and normal too.

Plus you're assuming that 1) writing about the person means they're a fan of them specifically as a person and not just a hot face for the fic.
2) that the person knows about the offence and is disregarding it as opposed to not knowing.

Plenty of people write RPF based on handfuls of interviews around their shows, and do no more research than that. Personally if it ends up on mainstream news outlets in my country I'd know about it but if it's only on US or celebrity gossip type sites chances are I'd have no clue as that shit doesn't interest me.
