There is no functional difference for me between a random fan who writes fic about a guy and don’t care that he’s a rapist and a random twitter bro who loyally follows a comedian they like and don’t care that he’s a rapist. Many people operate with a cognitive dissonance between the things they do and they reality they operate in. Their personal excuses don’t matter much if you’re on the other side of “I care that this guy is a rapist.”

Why do you think it's ok to write fic about rapists? What meaningful difference is there between writing porn about rapists who happen to be hot celebs and writing Richard Ramirez/James Joseph DeAngelo fluffy coffee shop AUs?

Wanting to get TF away from a recip I think is gross and has gross opinions as soon as possible does not mean I should have to potentially forfeit my own gift. The minimum still meets the requirements of the exchange.

What is the meaningful difference between rpf about unhot true crime rapists and rpf about hot celeb rapists? Because I don't see one.

Except perhaps that the true crime rapist fans are more likely to send their fic directly to the subject.

To answer your first point, seeing what people read or write tells you nothing about their opinions on anything but fiction. Your dumbass assumptions and inability to differentiate between fiction and reality is a you problem, and just because you approach fandom in general and RPF in particular that way, does not mean everyone else does the same.

To take an example of a former popular RPF fandom, lolitics. Many writers involved in that fandom loathed David Cameron, the tories and everything they stood for, and they held those real life opinions while also writing hundreds of thousands of words of fic in just about every genre, including fluffy schmoop and hardcore porn about the people they hated because funnily enough for most people, their fictional tastes aren't dependent on their real world politics or beliefs.

No. I think having someone write you spitefic is the worst thing that can happen to a person in a fic exchange.

Judge whoever you want. I don't care what's going on in your mind. But if you sign up for an exchange and are judging your recip so hard that you deliberately write them "1k of odao coal", you are an asshole and if you were on record saying this in namespace, I'd report this to the mod of every fic exchange you did. (Yes, I doubt the Yuletide mods would do much about it, but I know plenty of mods who would ban your ass with extreme prejudice.)
