Is it OOC if you write a fic based on a music video but not the people in it?

How on earth was someone able to nominate McCoy and Spock as characters? I know it was for a single novel but it's still clearly within the main shoe continuity??

I have a question about letter etiquette. I'm requesting a really small fandom – we're talking no-fics-at-all small. Because of its setting, it would be an easy crossover with a pretty big fandom (8k+ fics). I was thinking of putting in my letter that I'd welcome a crossover with Big Fandom if my author is interested – I'd hope that might catch the attention of someone who's in Big Fandom, especially if my letter ends up going out as a pinch hit. What do you all think? Is it within Yuletide etiquette to do that, and is it a good idea?

I enthusiastically promo'd my fandom but now that signups are open, I'm on the fence about signing up. I feel bad about promoing my fandoms and then not requesting it, but if it encouraged other people to request them (who I could end up treating), then it's not all bad, is it?

Like, I was going to go into more detail on the OOCness but even just typing it out made me think “Hang on a minute, isn’t this too wanky?”

In the past you used to be able to request the same fandom a second time with a different subset of characters, as long as you cleared the minimum of 3 separate fandoms. I just realized the rules don't seem to allow for that anymore: "You can make 3-6 requests, each for a separate fandom, selecting 0-4 characters for each."

Ones that don't exist but you wish did, ones you hope come back this year, etc ITT

What are you voraciously consuming now? And is it to see if you want to offer it, get a head start on treats, or just because it's awesome and you were overdue for a re-read/re-watch/re-play?

Person I wrote for last year gushed over my story, and has come up with exciting new prompts for the same fandom this year. Do I game towards them, or let them find a different writer?

If I want to request all the characters in the tagset plus worldbuilding… how do I do that? Should I do 0 characters and say I want fic with all the characters or with worldbuilding? Or request 3 characters + worldbuilding and say I want fic with all the other nommed characters, too?

So how many possible writers and recipients do you have so far?

I ordered Fire Emblem Shadows of Valentia based entirely on wanting to write some fire emblem for yuletide

But haven't had the chance to yet!

That point in sign-ups where I'm the only requester for several canons and they have offers now but once I post my letter and the offers disappear then I know it's because those people don't want to write for me.
