Okay, that's a bit more reasonable. But even then, incest is predicably likely to come up in this kind of exchange, (especially in the fics that require mod intervention,) it's not like they're squicked by tomato juice kink or something super specific. Like. Ban incest in your fest and then you won't have to close-read, or find someone who will agree in advance to mod anything incest-related that comes up, both of those are options. "Being able to close-read questionable fics" is one of the core job requirements?

And the accommodation ("get an assistant with non-overlapping triggers") is very doable.

If the mod had reason to believe this person knew they couldn't handle incest and assumed they'd be too triggered to check it properly (or if they were in fact triggered and not handling it well) the assumption of bad faith is a little more explicable. But also like. "Need to close read an incest fic" was a really predictable problem. They should have had something set up in advance. What the Mod Cabal should be for is to give people that kind of advice before they end up triggering themself.
