it's also not bad modding to say that if someone has shown they are willing to abide by the norms of a space they are allowed in it, and there's valid, non-geek-fallacy reasons to think that's better for the community as a whole

bullshit. fandom is a community. ars_belli was posting her nazi thirst on the same platform she posted her yuletide letter on. it is completely reasonable to ban her on those grounds. requiring everyone else to attend to their requests with vigilance if they have an objection to matching with a nazi is ridiculous. the solution is to ban the nazi.

Is this specific to Nazis or are we also banning everyone else who posts creepy and tasteless stuff on the same platform where they post their Yuletide letter? Like, we should definitely also ban MAGAs and TERFs and homophobes, but what about people with a fannish history of bullying? No one wants those in their community or share exchange spaces with them either, right? And why is that only when it's the same platform as the letter? Just because the letter is on DW, the fact that they tell fellow fans to kill themselves on Tumblr isn't irrelevant.

no you fucking moron, it's just literally hypothetical. name a name. what matters is the bigotry + the behavior. i'm not aware of any maga people participating in yuletide, if they are, they should be banned. but your specific hypothetical was about "bullying", a term so broad it could mean literally anything. in general, yes, if a notorious harasser is doing yuletide, they should be banned. you will note that this is hypothetical, based on your own excruciatingly vague criteria.

i'm arguing ars_belli should have been banned and pointing out that in this case (unlike the other creep people keep bringing up) there was no difference in platform to even consider. again, i don't care about this invented scenario. it's a judgement call for the mods to make. in yuletide's case, the mods long ago should have made such calls for people who exhibit malicious exchange behavior or are straight up fucking nazis.
