I want to write a treat for Yuletide Madness. Any good tells for who could be her recip?

Look for a fic that's over 10k words of absolutely boring prose.

Nah, I really doubt she wrote that much. I think she was lying for attention like usual.

I don't think she was lying in namespace. Unfortunately, I think someone will get 10k+ words of crap, unless she decides not to post her final version.

This is why I really want to write a treat for her recip. I feel so awful for them.

Do you think it's worse for her recip to get 10k+ words of crap or less?

Worse, because they'll feel morally obligated to read until the end and comment. Unless her recip is a non-commenter, in that case I don't care.

I seriously hope she's lying about her wordcount.

Imagine being the poor recip and feeling like you have to read over 10,000 words of drivel. I feel like their Christmas would be ruined.

Whatever. They're getting longfic, whereas a lot of us are sitting here with minimum wordcount gifts.

I read her previous gifts, and they're completely normal by exchange standards. I assume that anyone who finds her writing quality worth complaining about is her self-trolling at this point.

I don't care about her writing, I just don't want a gift from her.

Like someone else said, her writing is definitely in the bottom 20% of Yuletide. Definitely way below average.

Is it? It seems more middling to me at a skim.

Maybe for something like HP fanfic, which is already below average.

Have you tried requesting fandoms with better writers in them?

The safest way to get a good percentage of good quality exchange fic is get to know the writing of exchange regulars by browsing collections through the year, find your favorites, read their back history so you know what fandoms they post in, and then request the smallest fandoms from whichever good writer signs up to any given exchange.

If you only want big fandom fic this obviously won't work for you.

This. FS's HP fic was about the same quality as the other mid HP fics in exchanges, but that's one reason why I don't request HP in exchanges.
