Don't Stop Coal Now!

Tonight I'm gonna have myself a real coal time
I feel alive
And the exchange I'll turn it inside out, yeah
I'm floating around in agony
So, (don't stop me now)
(Don't stop me)
'Cause I'm having a coal time, having a coal time~

If you made yourself sad because you're stalking your recip's gift page so you can track when they comment to other gifts in comparison to yours, that's very much a you problem.

Comment on your gift, dumbass.

DA

Some of us have commented on our gifts (and even some other fics in the collection) and still think this is dumb.

Comments suggesting that anyone disagreeing with your neurotic approach to the exchange is guilty of exchange sins are incredibly tedious.

ayrt

I commented on my gift within half a day of the collection opening.

You're still a neurotic moron, and should find something better to do than stalk your recips and fume about the timing of their comments.

This is a self-created problem.

This is a rude and bananas take. It’s not a deviant behavior to expect your recip to acknowledge your gift. And it’s not a great act of stalking to do one quick poke to see if they’ve been AFK or acknowledging other fics

+10000 A lot of people will check to see if their recipients have a habit of commenting late or not commenting at all.

Exchange etiquette is to comment before author reveals, which are still a few days away.

I agree it's not a great act of stalking to check your recip's other gifts, but if it's going to make you (general you) spiral to see they commented on other gifts and not yours *when it's before author reveals* that is a you problem.

Maybe they meant to comment on both gifts on the 25th but ran out of time or had something come up. Maybe the other exchange opened earlier in the morning when they were free and they've been busier since. Maybe they liked the other gift less so it was easier to write a comment, whereas they wanted to give yours the attention it deserved (OP did say they eventually came back and left TWO comments).

The stalking is fine. If the stalking makes them unhappy, that's on them, though, and they can't expect much sympathy, especially when it's still several days until the anon period is over.

I'm pretty sympathetic. I had a recip this year who commented on their other gift but not on mine, which I discovered while checking on their comment history after a few days of dead silence despite seeing them on Discord.

AYRT

I'll be sympathetic after author reveals. At this point, I'm pretty much done with creators whining about not having a recip comment before that. And the fact that OP's recip commented with a two-part comment a day or so after their rant shows how silly this is.
