I've been doing yuletide since 2008. I write and edit professionally. (At this point he main reason I'm still in YT at all is nostalgia.)

I don't read fic shorter than 1k because it's rare a story of that length has anything worth saying in it.

I don't read mediocre/badfic on purpose and I don't want to pretend to like a gift that's badfic to me just because someone found my signup in the app and put my name on the gift tag.

In an exchange with an established collection for shorter treats, and a culture of gifting shorter treats including drabbles, it isn't a bad idea. If you wouldn't even bother to read my shorter story, I don't really want to gift it to you. DNW it and we'll both be happier

I never said I wouldn't be polite if someone gave me coal. I said I wouldn't want the gift and that I'd rather not receive it. As an answer to the question "would you want this?"
