Awaiting a rewatch but I'm thinking about The Silenced, a Korean film set in a girls' school. Last I checked in there was a single fic and it was groupchat, which is a horrible feeling.

Yes! I was trying to find what the umbrella title would be for the songs. I've seen the character of the lover referred to as White Lotus on the youtube comments, but I don't know if there are official names for the three.

The View from Saturday and Deadliest Class. The first one I read when I was a kid, and only after reading something in this year's collection realized I would love to request; the second I just started watching and absolutely love.

A long-shot, maybe, although you never know with standalone novels, but I just finished The Reddening by Adam Nevill (same author who wrote The Ritual, and it is in fact a bit like the Ritual but set in Devon and with added cosmic horror), and hot fucking damn do I want some art for it. I have some minor reservations about the book (the title is one of them), but I haven’t enjoyed a book so much in quite a while.

I just finished that as well! I don't think I enjoyed it quite as much as you did based on this comment, but I liked it a lot, and art for it would be amazing.

I’d seen a few people mention they hadn’t really liked it, so I was surprised to find how much I enjoyed it. But then I love folk horror and it was so ridiculously, unapologetically schlocky and OTT that I couldn’t help be delighted by it. And I enjoyed it a hell of a lot more than his last novel. It definitely had some issues though: I’m curious to know what reservations you had about it.

it came out RIGHT after noms closed last year so I really really really hope that people will still remember the new Charlie's Angels when this year's Yuletide rolls around. like, was it good? no. do I desperately want the two lady secret agents to bicker lovingly about all the details of their upcoming wedding ceremony while their baby secret agent daughter frantically tries to keep the world from exploding for long enough to get her two moms to the altar? YES.

I thought all the three main characters were about the same age? That was one of the reasons I wasn't interested in seeing it, since I like variety in ages and not just all mid-twenties or whatever.

I don't think they state ages but it does seem like Elena is a bit younger than Jane and Sabina -- she's very naive and doesn't have any real-world experience, so they're very much shepherding her through the movie and trying to teach her along the way. it's not an actual generation gap, though, more that she's a baby in the spy business compared to them. the end credits scene is Jane and Sabina showing up to basically watch her graduate from spy school. metaphorical daughter rather than literal!
