I'm pretty sure I stumbled on at least one fic where Marta broke out into speaking Spanish mid-fucking, and it was terrible and cringeworthy.

No, but "Latino" or "Latinx" if you prefer or "Mexican-American" are all fine descriptors. I guess you didn't mean it this way, but when someone refers to a person who was born and lived all his life in the US as "Mexican," that comes across as xenophobic to me, like telling people to "go back to your country" when they were born here. FWIW.

The dynamics between a random French character and a Latina character of unconfirmed origins because everyone she interacts with names a different country while threatening to get her mother departed are so completely, obviously different that this ignorance is exactly what makes you and every shitty porn writer who buys into it racist.

lol +1. And it's not even anything about the treatment of the character in the fics, which I imagine is sometimes pretty bad, it's the fact of the ship itself.

You know what upon further thought (and reading the stuff y'all said) you're all right. I've been a tremendous jerk about this. There was absolutely no call for me making a judgement on ships like that. People should be allowed to ship what they want, my personal preferences and opinions shouldn't come into that.

I try to make it a point not to make dumb comments like this so I'm kind of disgusted at my own behavior. I will make an effort to stay in my lane next time and also not make judgmental comments! My sincere apologies.
