Anyone who falls for this year after year is playing themselves lol.

Whatever fandom you think you may write for, you need to post something for it during ToT. And even that is a 50/50 odds of it being up by Yuletide.

Jojo Rabbit is a high profile canon with 4 fics in it dating back to early Nov and it's still unwrangled: https://archiveofourown.org/tags/Jojo%20Rabbit%20(2019)

The few wranglers with mod approved canonizing powers are stretched thin/lazy, the rest of the wranglers can't risk canonizing shit without being yelled at, and there is a backlog that keeps getting bigger. Your Yuletide fandom with a fic ~1 month old is not on their radar.

Yes, I'm well aware of this. Last unwrangled fandom I wrote for on AO3 took over three months to get a canonical tag, and I also know hhertzof put a stop to that whole drabble trick for no valid reason. But my point was that they claim Yuletide fics get prioritized and dealt with quickly, like Morbane said in that post I quoted. So it should indeed be on their radar, because that's literally what they're telling everyone.

Wait, they stopped the drabble thing? Why?

Abuse of power, pettiness, sheer dickishness... take your pick.

The fic wrote for me was the first fic in an unwrangled fandom, and it was wrangled before I woke up and read the fic after reveals.

Yep, gotta plan ahead. I have to admit, I wrote for the Be The First challenge with an eye towards Yuletide & getting the fandom tag wrangled. I think a lot of the fandoms in that challenge got wrangled fairly quickly, with only a few stray ones taking longer a month (including mine).

Oh, that's a clever idea!

I think they try really hard to get them all but sometimes one will slip through the cracks. I wrote stories for five new fandoms, mine's the only story in all of them, and four were wrangled within an hour or two. The fifth took until the next morning, late, but still less than twelve hours. It was the last one posted, so I guess they hadn't done whatever prep work is necessary or something, I don't know. I was pleasantly surprised since I'd heard so much about how it wasn't going to happen.

I'd email if any of them were still unwrangled. Can't hurt.

AO3 support is known for taking 3+ months to reply, so I feel like it CAN hurt in terms of frustration. Especially considering that their replies tend to be both unhelpful and rude.

I always feel like they're rude, too! I can never put my finger on what exactly about it comes across as rude, though.

...I guess it does frequently seem like they don't actually read my whole goddamn email, though.

NC: The last response I got from support about a wrangling problem (6 months later) was pretty clearly c&p'ed to everyone who had written in about the issue.
