He's just LGBT from a group where using reclaimed terms was common. He's stopped using them in discord (at least as far as I've seen) since picking up that we aren't that sort of crowd.

Still really damn annoying, but in a "teen doesn't realize how to function in a broad social group" sort of way, not an edgy homophobia way.
