I understand their frustration, but I just do not want to know about the personal life of randos I'm going to write fic for, which is why this letter is somewhat uncomfortable for me - even if I understand this situation in particular very well because boy oh boy could I write a lot about cancer ruining this and several others years I had. Idk, maybe it's cultural differences and whatever, but it's just a weird thing to me to broadcast my general mood and how my year went and that someone I'm close to has/had breast cancer to people I don't even know while in namespace (but then, I also never got into the whole journal culture). The comment on the fic they got last year isn't even what bothers me. I guess everyone has their own boundaries there about how much privacy they wanna keep. Personally, I'd have just DNWed it.
