It was the Coal of Times

Pretty damn lousy. I got the recip I've written for multiple times before, so I know exactly what to expect. First time I wrote for them I ended up with a 20K fic, and their comment was basically, "Thank you so much! I love these characters! Thank you again!" At first I thought they must have hated it, but I later learned that it's simply how they comment on everything. Also, their signup is empty and their letter is a locked placeholder, but I know that even once it's unlocked it won't actually contain anything. Last time I matched with them was for a freeform exchange, during which they chose to request any freeform (and the only thing they wrote in their letter was DNWing certain freeforms). They never give any prompts or even mention likes.

I actually offered several fandoms with no letters, which is a risk I never take usually, just in the hopes of avoiding this recip. But since there were no letters I didn't know if we'd match on characters or not, so for safety's sake I ended up offering this fandom too just so I wouldn't have to interact with the mods (bad past experience).

I feel you, coalie.

I dropped one of my favorite long-time fandoms because a known wanker I've written that fandom for before hadn't posted a letter yet. And I dodged that bullet, because they requested it again. Their thank you on a 9k fic of the type they'd requested before was fine if generic. BUt knowing some of the drama around them made me regret offering it and getting them, so I didn't want to repeat it. Glad I didn't.

At least you know if they're not a good commenter, not to sweat it much or worry if your story's 1000 words. (I tend to go above and beyond with stories for certain people who really seem to appreciate it, and less so with others. I would go less so for them.)
