shnuffeluv isn't good but I think they're slightly above the quality bar for me here. I think recipients requesting art are often unrealistic in their quality expectations. Really polished stuff takes horrifying amounts of work.
I don't think anyone is asking for a 200 hour oil painting. They just don't want someone who photocopied their taint, and shnuffleluv is fully still in the taint-copying spectrum.
For me it's not just about the quality. Their FFFX 2024 comic was genuinely horrifying to me, and I think that if that kind of art is the best you can do, you should not be posting 10k of it. I saw them giving tips about making comics in the FFFX channel on EAD and had to cringe for whoever their recip is.
