Recipients of longfic: How long does it (usually) take you to read and comment?

If we're talking over 10k, it takes me the entire anon period, however long that anon period is. I used to leave happy placeholders saying one or two things I liked and then come back with other comments but so many people complained on memes about placeholders that I stopped and just comment at the end.

I know what you mean. I got 10K+ this year, and it was amazing, as in probably the best gift I've gotten, but I was still nervous about leaving a "love it, will comment properly later". Did anyway.

I've never received anything over 10k, but if I did, how long it would take me to comment would depend more on the timing and whether I had other commitments than on the fic length. If I had nothing else going on, I might comment on the first day. If I was busy it would take me until whenever I had enough consecutive hours of free time to read and comment, which could be a few days or the whole anon period.

I'm probably not going to leave any comments at all until 12+ hours past the deadline (24 this year). Either I'm travelling or I just have too much other stuff going on. I can spit bullshit on coal right now but that's already stretching my capacity and I'm going to need a night's sleep and some serious decompression time to even be ready to think properly about my gifts.

With a longfic gift, I try to leave a short "Wow I'm so excited and I'll be back" in the first 24 but you're not going to get my full comment until the weekend after.

Usually a few days. That's mostly a function of how busy I am on christmas and the days after that though.

Anecdotally I received a ~10k fic this year and it will probably take me until the last few days of the anon period to comment.
