Just write it, then erase the italics *shrug*. You can repost it on FFN or something with italics on afterwards.

I just can't imagine being unable to write a fic without italics. Most of my fics don't have italics to begin with.

My fics usually have some italics, but looking at them, I average maybe one italicised word for every 1-2k of fic. I'd have trouble writing a novel that completely avoided them, but not a Yuletide assignment.

I just don't like fics without italics, so I wouldn't post it. Often when I read fic, I think "this word should be in italics" and mentally substitute them.

It's obviously fine if someone doesn't like italics, but that just means we're not compatible.

The only times I remember using italics are when mentioning book titles or writing dialogue for prose poetry. I'm sure italics for emphasis are perfectly in-character for some canons, but it's a big turn-off in my fandoms.
