Would you rather have one long fic, or several short fics, assuming they're all good quality?

Huh, I just realised my answer for this is different for Yuletide than for other exchanges. Normally I would always pick the longfic, but assuming the short fics are all in different fandoms then I'd go for that option in Yuletide because the idea of getting fic for multiple of my ultra-rare fandoms at once beats out my overall preference for longer fic.

If the short fics are in the same fandom, then one long fic. If all in different fandoms, the short fics.

Entirely depends on if it's good. Several short bad fics are less horrible to comment on than one long bad fic.

From experience, this is not true. One year I got a bunch of gifts from one creator in FIAB and they all sucked. I had to comment politely on all of them. If they'd written me one long bad gift, I could have skimmed for a few quotes and been done in fifteen minutes instead of the hours it took.

For a short bad gift I can say "Wow, how nice, thank you!" For a long one I need to come up with multiple paragraphs about something I hated or I feel bad. Maybe this is a me problem, but it is what it is.

For me, mediocre gifts are worst to comment on. If they're actually bad bad, I can just reject or write a single line thank you regardless of length of the gift, but when they're clearly good faith gifts that are just missing the mark, it's tough.

Longfic, please! I love longfic and many of the things I like best can only be done in longfic. I'd be happy with the several short, but longfic for preference.
