That's a lot of words to say that you can't be bothered thinking outside the box.

ahev you read the books? no? then don#t comment how easy you thinj it is to aboid the main conincal themes that influence luterally all the charcters actions and form most of their backstories and even ncknames and everytjing

I mean do they sound like someone who'd be capable of doing that anyway?

(Anonymous) 2025-10-30 01:37 am (UTC)(link)
That is a good point.

They sound to me like someone who finds fuzzy rules very frustrating, so they set themselves rules that are more extreme than the most practical versions of the fuzzy rules, on the basis that they might be going to more effort to stay within the strict rules, but at least it won't cause any social difficulties.

Then they forget (or get high or brood on it while hangry or or or) that those rules are self-imposed, not external, and get mad at other people for supposedly putting them in a situation where they'll have to break rules.

Ie:

Angry coalie: DNWs are vague and situational, the rule I'll follow for myself is "no mentions of the Bad Thing whatsoever, no allusions to plot points that depend on the Bad Thing, write as if Bad Thing didn't and doesn't happen"

Recipient: No rape/incest (for a canon steeped in rape and incest, where every single character's backstory contains some and so do many of their ongoing plots)

Angry coalie: You're making me break the rules!!

OK that's going a little too far into psychoanalysis

Angry coalie put themselves in that situation by contemplating treating someone whose DNWs didn't work for them and throwing a hissy fit rather than just saying "that doesn't work for me as a treater, moving on."

But then, what are we all here for, if not the hissy fits?
