I checked who else was interested in a small fandom of mine and found this https://tagset2025.web.app/#/user/Limax_maximus

Which is kind of a normal sign up with no prompts, except that when you click on the letter link, it directs you to their blog, which contains nought else but two placeholders - one for Yuletide 2023 and one for Yuletide 2024. Amazing. You truly could not make this up.

It's impractical but I feel like if you've posted two placeholders in a row, someone should stop you when you post the third. No! Don't continue to set yourself up to fail and be a dick!

But that’s the thing, they haven’t even posted the third!! They just linked to a blog containing their previous two! The third placeholder is only in their imagination! It’s a placeholder for a placeholder!

I'm glad people have learned they can just link to their blogs instead of clogging my reading list up with placeholders for two weeks. But that is not the way.

This person only has one placeholder, for 2024, but still. Letter link in their sign-up which goes to their blog, NOT a specific letter. There's nothing for this year at all, and there's a never-updated placeholder for last year.

There's plenty of info in their sign-up, too. The link is pointless.

No, what you couldn't make up is that I'm assigned to that one, and my wife saw this and told me, 'Hey, this sounds like what you were talking about last night', causing me to come here and say this. LMFAO. I'm dead from laughing now.

I think I was looking at them for a different fandom. On that one they also have a clear enough request. Their comments are on the short but vague end of the spectrum, but that’s okay for a fandom I love. Still, now that you’ve pointed it out I’m boggling at the two years of placeholder letters.
