I’m less bothered by the age (the other book is also about teen boys) than the fact that I just read the wiki summary of The Children Act and it sounds really bad. Maybe it reads better than the plot summary?

I love McEwan's writing and all his novels that I read, but they are pretty much uniformly devastating and I'm not in the frame of mind to read one atm.

I'm of the unpopular opinion that none of McEwan's novels post-Atonement are worth reading, but he's highly celebrated and I doubt it's that bad.

The summary intrigues me a lot personally, but between my constant disappointment with 21st century McEwan and my hatred for Vuong, I'd better leave it to someone else.

i haven't read the book but i will say that i enjoyed the film.
