I liked it a lot! Most of the DW book reviewers hated it, so I'm hoping for some more people to read it and be interested in fic and meta for it.

Sorry, coalie, this might be rude to ask, but could you link to a few people who hated it? I hated SDG and I'd like to see if the same issues popped up in this book.

I didn't mean in regards to Yuletide or anything around it 😂 I just wanted to see book reviews so I can decide whether to read it for myself.

I actually had a bunch of issues with SDG (largely it being a Netflix She-Ra knockoff) but I thought the author had potential so I wanted to try another book, and I really did think this was a big improvement. I especially liked it being a magic school from the pov of a teacher, which I haven’t seen before. Whatever parts felt like they could use more would make for good fic, hence nominating it.

I never really loved her fic so I've been on the fence about trying her profic but if there are good, interesting requests, I would probably read this.

Is her fic name shareable? I disliked sdg but in a way that might work better for me in fic.

You can probably find her fic username without a lot of effort, but she deleted or orphaned all of her fic before going pro and, to my knowledge, has not admitted to the connection. In part because she left fandom after getting criticized for writing a racist joke into a fic.

she was emilyenrose I think, but the profile has since been deleted. idk if her works are up on the internet archive tho
