Some of the canons that get nominated are really ridiculous. Which nominated canons, in the evidence post or otherwise, have made you go "wut"?

(This is a non-serious thread for bratting about canons that are very silly to nominate for Yuletide. This is not a thread for being judgmental about the content of the canon.)

I have zero opinions about Batman as a character/series. I have opinions about shoehorning Wayne Family Adventures into Yuletide for another year because it technically had 997 eligible works when nominations opened.

any take on Harry Potter or Star Wars. Yes, I get that some aspects of those fandom corners have some very small sub-fandoms, but it's still part of a super popular fandom! obviously, plenty of the sub-fandoms get through, so i know that i'm objectively in the wrong here, but it still grinds my gears.

All megafranchise subfandoms should be banned. I don't care if your Marvel fave has ten fics, make a Marvel rare character exchange.

Wow, there are many strong contenders for "you've got to be fucking kidding me" this year, but I think this wins my vote too. Is this a troll to push at the mod's boundaries of Yuletide nominations? What would one even prompt for this?

Fandom: CaitVi Kinktober 2025 Rules

Possible issue with the fandom: This is an ephemeral social media discourse technically centered on Arcane and has been mostly treated as a tag on AO3, rather than a whole fandom.

Why this fandom should be considered eligible: The fanworks responding to/centering the rules stipulated by the prompt list have little to do with Arcane as a fandom, and many of them actually don't use the Arcane fandom at all. Instead, the core subject is the prompt list itself treated satirically.

Thank you! Unfortunately, we are not willing to approve this. Although Yuletide is open to some ephemeral and unusual fandoms, we're not sure the source canon here provides a sufficient basis for a shared understanding between potential requesters and writers of exactly what sort of response they're looking for. We also place high scrutiny on fandoms that depend on knowledge of fandom wank - as fandom wank itself is not a subject we'd prefer to treat as a canon. We hope there are other things you enjoy in the tag set.
