Even the pushback EO got is cruel to the recipient.

It goes:
• hurt feelings
• someone made me hurt
• it must be their fault

...what if they're even in the wrong? too scary.

I guess the distinction to me is important bc I feel different about "oh this person is deliberately misleading me" vs "oh this person needs to go handle their emotions somewhere else" haha

Like, I'm sorry, you guys can't be serious. Too scary? Needs to go handle their emotions somewhere else? EO getting wounded over that would be funny if my blood wasn't boiling.

I'm not sure why people can't just say "no I don't think this warrants an EPH" without resorting to writing fanfic about the recip's thoughts and feelings.

I think the conversation had turned into more hypotheticals about lying, but I agree, this is unnecessary psychologizing.

It actually is hilarious that EO got wounded over that - what, he can dish out all those accusations, but he can't take that his definition is unkind? That's some paper-thin skin he's sporting.

I'm going to choose to believe that server mod's comments are general ones and not about this specific situation. There's no reason to psychologize like this and say a participant needs to go handle their emotions somewhere else, even if the fic wasn't EPH-worthy, unless they were deliberately rude or insulting.
