Yeah, I'd bring it up to the server owner. And gently push back next time someone starts to give details that aren't necessary to resolve their issue

They did (though more at the end, and they were on the side of the person who pushed back against calling the recip a liar), but it's still worth bringing it up to them. They've set lines for people before on what's allowed to be discussed and that's really the only thing they 'mod' there, so it's worth asking them to tighten that up.
