They asked for volunteers, got two, and DM'd the link. The link did not appear in the server.

Unlike a lot of other coalies I don't think the RS mod showed complete disregard for participant privacy or is a massive asshole, but it also sounds like they didn't quite do enough to keep the details private to avoid a server full of bored mods rubbernecking on it.

Like, I believe that they never directly linked the fic (except in DMs to select people), but it also absolutely sounds like prior to linking it, they talked about it in ways that were identifiable to some. And that was a mistake.

Having a certain familiarity with the exchange, I know for a fact that the mod could have comfortably DMed one of the people who ended up volunteering without any need to post in the server. Or they could have asked for a volunteer without detailing the fic.
