"yuletide is not a ship fest, don't request only ship" nonny and tbh I'd be way less likely to sign up if it was gen-only; a lot of what inspires me to nom a fandom is wanting to see what people would do for a new ship (and I usually write shipfic if I get a request that includes it.)

I'm fine with the people who get mad if they get gen just continuing to get mad sometimes.

i thought you ppl loved gen and you'd all be dancing and clapping and doing the fandy pandy boom if yt got made a gen only fest.

but nope - seems you want ship for yourselves and only want other ppl to get gen? weird.

You might as well go ahead and admit you're sulking because you can't demand porn.

We want people to accept that Yuletide isn't about ordering exactly what you want off a menu, that it's about creating a good experience for writers as much as for readers, and that if you don't want the chance you'll get something you didn't expect, you don't actually want to do Yuletide.

who the fuck is we when they're at home?

i've never suggested yt should be ordering what you want off a menu. but when a recip provides a letter about their interests and a list of things they like, if the author turns their nose up at it and writes what they enjoy instead, thinking, "well, they didn't dnw the thing so they can accept it as their gift" they shouldn't be surprised when recip doesn't provide them with a lengthy, grateful, butt-licking comment in return.

You cannot match on ships for Yuletide. If all your write about your likes in your letter is "I love X ship and Y ship and I love these ship dynamics and this porn stuff and also this kind of shipfic!" then no shit you run a risk of not getting what you want. No one who didn't sign up to write shipfic can avoid you because of how Yuletide works, and you straight up are not guaranteed shipfic.

If you want to be guaranteed a ship, then sign up to one of the hundred other exchanges that match on ships.

Are you seriously trying to resurrect this wank several days over a week later? Fuck off, seriously.

"No one who didn't sign up to write shipfic can avoid you because of how Yuletide works"

That isn't even true. If you post a letter then people can avoid you easily, with a few exceptions.
