Do you comment on things beside your gift?

And do you expect to comment on Yuletide works that aren't your gift?

Yes, especially in smaller exchanges. I can't always do it that much in Yuletide because it's a big exchange with alot of rare fandoms I'm just not familiar enough, but I do intend to, if I have time over the holidays.

Yes, I try to. I see it as an important part of participation, something that will help people have a good time and come back to do it again (which is a win for me if I liked their stuff).

I comment on a lot of things where I haven't consumed the canon but I feel I know enough about it through osmosis to get something out of it, or I'm interested in a specific tagged trope/kink/whatever.

Yes, if they're in my fandoms or even other fandoms I'm not active in but still feel fondness for.

In theory, but in practice I'm only really into a small set of rare fandoms that don't get much attention outside of things I either wrote or received. In Yuletide, though, I do try to read fairly widely in a bunch of, 'Hey, I vaguely remember that movie,' type fandoms, and generally find at least a couple of things I like enough to comment on.

Usually my gift and the thing I wrote are the only things in fandoms I know and I don't read fandom blind.

sure, at about the same rate I comment on stuff outside of exchanges. How much I read varies from year to year, but I try to leave a comment if I really like something.

Yeah, I like reading widely and commenting widely in Yuletide.

i don't even comment on my gift

At a minimum, I try to read everything in the fandoms I offered and requested, if things have been written for them and they don't contain DNWs. I comment on everything I read if I make it to the end - it's something I have as a general policy, because I know how much most authors appreciate it

I will probably read and comment on anything in any fandoms I requested+offered as long as it's not completely opposite to what I usually like to read.

i probably comment on yuletide fics at a slightly higher rate than other fics. i do usually try and comment on every fic in the fandom i received (and wrote, depending on how obvious that would make me)

Usually. It's not a lot most years because I'm not into many of the Yuletide fandoms, but when something strikes my fancy in one of my fandoms or if I come across a well-recced story that doesn't need a lot of canon knowledge, I'll dive into it.

Probably not--usually there are very few or even no other works in any of the fandoms I enjoy. And even when they are, sometimes they're just... really bad.
But if anything does end up being created for the two or three fandoms I'm keeping an eye on, and if it's like, readable, then yes, I likely will.

Yes, it's one of my favorite parts of Yuletide.
