It's posted! Would like to do another edit between now and reveals, but I'm also juggling three treat ideas that I'd like to write as well, and I don't think I'm going to manage everything...
You don't speak for everyone, not interested then just scroll past, I hope the thread starter sticks around and that you and any other racist trolls that get so bent out of shape by them fuck off back to ffa where your racism is coddled by the mods
Interesting difference between the luigi thread and the genocide thread, luigi gets a couple of bait comments, and some people confused by it being here, but mostly jokes. Genocide thread gets people screaming about how people should leave coal and straight to nasty ass comments. There both equally offtopic but only one geets the nasty vitriol from our resident trolls, like their constant screeching about offtopic doesn't belong here stuff only gets thrown at the Palestine nonnie's threads, as apparently they're ok with other offtopic posts. What really doesn't belong here is coalies so vocally and unapologetically racist that they shit the place up just by existing.
Assignment is done & posted (even betaed, amazing), and I'm now contemplating a threat, although I may wait for the deadline to see if there are any interesting PHs! (Also, where is my gift, c'mon, pspspspsps, c'mon, c'mon)
finished, technically, but i don't really like it as-is. and i haven't found anyone to beta it, which makes me a little sad. i like having it polished when i post it.
I have a gift! In a fandom I wasn't expecting to get before I went out as a pinch hit, with some very intriguing tags! Now very torn between 'Is it Yuletide yet?' and wanting more time to keep writing and editing.
This is because nobody gives a shit if you murder a health insurance CEO, but there are only two things to say about genocide, "genocide is bad" and "I, for some reason, probably racism, support this particular genocide, actually", and the former doesn't need saying and the latter needs screaming off coal.
Man, if they can keep detailed track of who's posting what on a community that gets 2000-3000 comments a day using spreadsheets, I'll have what they're having. I would definitely be getting through writing these Yuletide fics a lot more efficiently.
I’m trying to think what “won” YT the last couple years, even. A few fandoms got a lot of fic (usually ones that shortly after became ineligible, if they weren’t already), but I can’t think of a Slave Bear of Care—a-lot, Anthony Bourdain in Narnia, octopus video camera, etc-type fic that’s gone really viral in recent years, at least not one that crossed my circles. I guess the snake fight ones?
I think whatever wank there is will once again be generated by one of those people who seem to drift through fandom with no clue of norms or etiquette, or else a malicious actor trying to stir up trouble, and I feel like in both cases the exchange would be best served by them being largely ignored.
CYRT Whoops but also now you've got me laughing. Should've had someone beta my comments, see! Anyway I went ahead with the treat-without-the-h and it's already a 1.5K draft, but I'm also writing while sick, which means it could be a total mess and I won't know until I look it over with a clear head.
I'm not very up on what's going on the "recent popular thing that gets in because it's too new to have much fic yet" end of Yuletide these days, so pretty hard to call. The Dungeons and Dragons movie and Challengers both had a lot of requests/offers on the sign-up summary, but they've only got two fics in each so far. I'd expect both to get more fics before the deadline (and maybe treats?) but I'm not sure they're going to blow up that impressively. So far Queen's Thief definitely seems to be winning like coalie above said, but I'm not sure that kind of 'perennial Yuletide fandom on its last eligible year' fandom tends to make a particularly noticeable big splash outside of the fandom itself. And all the 'popular Tumblr post' style five-minute fandoms I'm aware of are repeats from previous years, so don't seem that likely to go viral either.
(Maybe the issue is I'm too out of touch with the fandom spaces where things do go viral these days, TBH. No idea what people are raving about on TikTok, wherever they went after Twitter or in various fandom Discords while I'm sitting here on Dreamwidth talking to the two other people still on here that are into my fifty-year-old books and sitcoms.)
you're 90000000000000000% obviously here just to bitch and whine about how people won't let you post ffa and not to actually talk about anything, which is why you get told to fuck off. so fuck off
