I'm enjoying it now I've mostly remembered what all the keys do and only occasionally die from such causes as eating too much, falling down stairs, zapping myself with the rebound from my own wand of lightning and accidentally summoning water demons by drinking from fountains.

I mean, technically, yes, but that wasn't honestly all that much different from before November the 5th, either.
If you're going to default, I say default now. First, this gives pinch hitters as long as possible to write a fic. Second, this gives you as long as possible to relax into not having to do yuletide to the point where you may again feel like doing yuletide, at which point you can write treats, or even your original assignment.
Between that and being sick, yeah. Not having a good time of it right now.

My neighbours keep letting off fireworks when it's barely gloomy let alone dark, sometimes even in light rain, and I'm so baffled by this choice. I mean, sure! Thanks for setting them off when it might be easier to find a scared pet and when there's less fire risk... maybe? But also why?

I’ve added the DNW since. I will say that the recent discussion on the AO3 news post makes me think the author may have just misunderstood what the tag is for.
