And another one!

I see my nemesis getting a fic that I love
And I'm like, "Fuck you"
I guess my 10k letter wasn't enough
I'm like, "Fuck you and fuck morbane, too"
Said, "If I was a long commenter, they woulda gamed for me"
Ha, now ain't that some shit?
(Ain't that some shit?)
And although there's pain in my chest
I still comment it's the best
And runs to coal to shout "Fuck you"

Now a #222!

AI: The Somnium Files (Video Games), Happiest Season (2020), Life and Death - Stephenie Meyer

I hope it stops at 222 both because I want the pinch hitters to catch a break and because 222 is such a nice number.

Is this, like, a normal amount of pinch hits this late in the game or is something in the water?

These aren't repeats, right? So it's not PDPH's defaulting on their PHs? Are these all coming from mods catching assignments that broke the rules???

I think this is a pretty normal amount. And yes, probably most of these are the mods catching assignments that broke the rules.

Pretty normal, I think. Last year, with slightly fewer signups than this year, there were a total of 258 plus one post-reveals emergency pinch hit. Nine went out on the 20th, seven went out on the 21st, seven on the 22nd, five on the 23rd, one on the 24th.

By comparison, this year we're only up to 222 total and have had seven on the 20th, two on the 21st, five on the 22nd, nine on the 23rd. So, actually significantly fewer pinch hits overall but maybe skewed a tiny bit more last-minute in terms of the number being sent out in this final two days.

(Incidentally #222 just got claimed while I was in the middle of checking these numbers, so all clear again.)

Thanks for your stats services, coalie!

I am so impressed with your numbers!

It's amazing what stats I can dig up when I'm procrastinating on finishing a last-minute treat that I really don't have time to procrastinate on! (But really I just clicked back through the pages on the pinch hit group until I hit last year and did some counting - the pinch hits are numbered and the messages show the dates that they were sent, so it's trivial enough, just a lot of clicky-clicky as Google Groups' crappy interface doesn't seem to have any way to skip to a specific page or date.)

I think they've only recently started seriously looking for DNW violations before the collection opens (they used to only look for stuff like pickle fic and and obvious incomplete drafts) and that's led to more pinch hits in this period.

Ah, that makes sense

Also I never want to be a mod, christ.
